Accountability to God

This is about the relationship you want to have with God to whom you pray. Trust will be important so as to create standards of expectations. God wants you to trust him and, by your actions, he wants to see that you have trusted him. He’s not looking for you to be perfect, only that your mind and motivations are set in sensibilities centered on him as the driving force. This should not be a strange thing to hear because it’s also true for any valuable relationships you have. Your husband or wife must be able to trust your word, promise, and behavior even when they are not around you. Hesitancy to commitments and following through with actions that may have long term impact on your lives is likely when trust is lacking.

While God is not exactly like man, the dispositions of your heart and mind are equally a factor in how much of him you will see in your life. You can count on God to stay with you no matter what is happening in your life and world. But can he count on you to do the same, or will you only be there when things are going great for you? This is the test of an enduring relationship.
